The firm provides investment advisory services primarily to high net worth individuals, charitable trusts, IRA clients, and corporate pension and profit-sharing plans. These investment services are provided on a discretionary basis authorized by a fully executed agency contract.

Charles Schwab is known as a leader in the financial industry and a trusted resource for Registered Investment Advisories. NTV acts as a conduit for the client, partnering with Charles Schwab as custodian to accommodate client portfolio servicing needs.

Charles Schwab:  

  • guarantees safekeeping of all assets and accommodates money transfers and receipts

  • prepares a comprehensive monthly statement detailing all transactions, cost basis, changes in account value, and asset summaries for client review

  • provides trust accounting and back-office support via Personal Trust Reporting Services (PTRS), including principal and income trust reporting and recording for trustees

  • maintains secure internet access for all client accounts

  • offers commission-free trade executions

  • provides an insurance wrapper for the total value of the assets in addition to the standard SIPC coverage

 At NTV Asset Management, LLC, we believe that:

  • target returns for any portfolio should be based on attainable goals of the investor without subjecting the client to undue risk

  • suitability and target objective cannot be determined without consideration of relevant investment time horizons

  • investment objectives are influenced by an emphasis on preservation of principal

  • portfolios are managed to attain reasonable risk-adjusted returns

  • financial goals are discussed during the initial engagement of NTV and reviewed regularly to ascertain changes in the client’s risk profile or financial needs

  • market timing will not be used as a strategic approach; however, under extreme market conditions, liquidity may exceed typical levels

  • portfolios are managed utilizing strategic asset allocation, sector diversification, and asset rebalancing

J. Randy Valentine

J. Randy Valentine, Managing Member, also serves as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer. Mr. Valentine leads the Investment Committee in designing the investment process for the firm, helps develop the asset allocation levels for the various portfolios, as well as conducts traditional investment research and technical analysis research to assist the firm in trading decisions. In addition, Mr. Valentine designs customized investment solutions for clients based on their particular risk tolerance, time horizon, liquidity needs, and goals.

Mr. Valentine has investment experience since 1976. He earned his BS in finance from West Virginia University. He holds the NASD Securities Series 65 license.

JaMES r. thomas

James R. Thomas, Managing Member, also serves as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Thomas is responsible for the financial strategy of the firm, managing financial controls, and ensuring full transparency over the financial performance of the company. In addition, Mr. Thomas designs solutions for clients upon their particular risk tolerance, time horizon, liquidity needs, and goals. He has investment experience since 1982.

Mr. Thomas earned both his BBA and MBA from Southern Methodist University. He holds the NASD Securities Series 65 license.

ian c. flores

Ian Flores, Senior Vice-President, serves as a Portfolio Manager. He designs customized investment solutions for clients based on their particular risk tolerance, time horizon, liquidity needs, and financial goals. He has investment experience since 1991.

Prior to NTV, Mr. Flores served as the Senior Portfolio Manager for BB&T Wealth Management in Charleston, West Virginia, managing over $400 million in assets.

Mr. Flores earned his BS in Business Administration from West Virginia State University, MBA from West Virginia University and completed the Southeastern Trust School at Campbell University. Mr. Flores holds the NASD Securities Series 65 license.

 
 


BRAD FOSTER, CFA

Brad Foster, Senior Vice-President, serves as the Director of Planning. He helps clients design and implement comprehensive financial planning strategies with specific expertise in tax, estate, and philanthropic-related matters. He has investment and financial planning experience since 2006.

Prior to NTV, Mr. Foster worked at McKinley Carter Wealth Services where he served as the lead advisor for families and non-profit organizations while directly overseeing over $200 million in assets. He also served as Manager of the Investment Services Council, with responsibilities to design and implement the investment program overseeing $2 billion in assets.

Mr. Foster earned his BS in Finance from James Madison University. He maintains the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and has been an active CFA charterholder since 2011. Mr. Foster holds the NASD Securities Series 66 license.

J. marshall valentine

Marshall Valentine serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Valentine focuses on NTV’s daily processes to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with state and federal laws. He also assists with the firm’s cybersecurity, bringing previous industry knowledge to keep NTV’s clients’ data secure. Mr. Valentine has been in the financial industry since 2006 with previous legal experience since 1998.

Prior to NTV, Mr. Valentine was a Compliance Analyst with LPL Financial of Ft. Mill, South Carolina. He also worked for American Funds of Capital Group Companies in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Mr. Valentine graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in justice studies and returned to his West Virginia hometown in 2017. His professional designation includes the NASD Securities Series 65 license.

barbara ann goode

Barbara Goode serves as Client Services Administrator. Ms. Goode manages NTV’s firm operations and office processes. She also handles various administrative and operational matters.

Prior to NTV, Ms. Goode served in various capacities at One Valley Bancorp in Charleston, West Virginia. Ms. Goode has over 35 years of financial industry experience.

Kristie Kinney serves as Relationship Manager and Chief Information Security Officer. She handles client questions regarding various administrative and operational matters, processes customer requests in a timely manner, and helps resolve customer issues.

Prior to NTV, Ms. Kinney served as a Senior Sales Assistant at Smith Barney in Charleston, West Virginia. She has nearly 30 years of investment experience.

Prior to NTV, Ms. Knox served as a Senior Client Service Associate at Smith Barney in Charleston, West Virginia, Sales Assistant at Dean Witter Reynolds, and Sales Assistant at Prudential Bache. She has over 40 years of investment experience.
